Mick Johal BSc (Hons)

I am an accredited divorce and break up coach with ten years’ experience helping men how to move on from heartbreak to happiness and plan a bright future ahead and
After completing a degree in Psychology at Middlesex University, London, I spent 20 years as a consultant in the clinical trials arena, working in many countries around the world, mainly on studies around neuropsychology and cancer.
I have always been interested in how the mind works and wanted to help people in some capacity. Since training to be an accredited divorce and breakup coach. I’ve found the perfect way to combine these interests and have truly found my purpose in life.
I have an avid interest in all things self-help, human psychology and the male experience of divorce and, having divorced after 16 years of marriage, I discovered various techniques and mindsets that helped shape the way I thought about my life, enabling me to cope better with the changes in a positive way.
My divorce was not straightforward as I was divorcing a very difficult person, this gave me an insight into the issues we can all face at this difficult time. Money, child access, division of assets – I always sought to do the right thing. This started me on my mission to help other people get through this awful time. I began to study the psychology of divorce for both men and woman and used these learned coping skills to get back on track and help both myself and other people.
I am a expert of masculinity and have clear insights of where marriages might go wrong and having been married for a long time, we change for an easier life and with these changes that you think are helping you might actually be the reason for the end of your marriage. I am a firm believer in taking accountability and not just blame your ex partner, this is the only way you can be better for yourself, children and future partners.
I have started and sold a successful coaching company and founded an award-winning and championship-winning community rugby club. I also started and sold a successful children’s sports coaching business. This has shaped me and helping others through this often devastating event has become my life’s purpose.
Yes, I still felt pain from the lies and hostility and the fact I was not going to see my children every day. Eventually attention started to turn to what was possible for me at that point and in the future. I used the days I had between seeing my children to work on discovering who I was and how I wanted to live my life and a world of possibilities opened for me and trust me a better life is possible.
I went through tough times during divorce, but I can say that I emerged as a much stronger and happier person. I knew I needed to work on my confidence and started by vowing to form new habits and show up as my best self every day. I learned that whatever happens to us, our experiences and stories do not define us. We are capable of great things and a bright future awaits.
As soon as my divorce was final I took freelance consultant positions in various countries across Europe. I made it top priority to always fly home for the weekend to be with my children. They appreciate the time we spent together and it makes me very happy that I have maintained a superb relationships with my two daughters.
The devastation of divorce was also an opportunity to be reborn, to live the life that I always dreamed of. I can now share everything I learned and use the tools gained from Sara Davison in order to help you find happiness as you navigate life during after divorce.
